From the beginning, the goal of Zahnradfabrik GmbH (founded in 1915 and now known as ZF Friedrichshafen AG) was to develop innovative products for seamless mobility. Over the decades, the company has been shaped not only by technological and economic progress, but also by political developments. A great historical legacy that the ZF Group tries hard to preserve.
ZF has never ceased to grow: originally a manufacturer of gears and transmissions for Zeppelin airships, today, ZF is one of the leading international suppliers of transmissions and chassis systems. Since its founding in 1915, ZF has geared an infinite number of vehicles for many different customers: at a first stage, only by making changes, later on in time, also by providing steering systems, axles and differentials. ZF not only wrote its own history, but also contributed to those of numerous famous car manufacturers -Aston Martin, BMW, Maserati, MAN, Mercedes-Benz- influencing their development and products. ZF engineers have always pushed towards progress, both in mass production and in that of motor sport, thanks to their ability to innovate, to their skills with hi-tech materials and to the continuous improvement of production methods.
